Cole Sprout, a junior at Stanford, placed second in the men's 10,000 meters in 28:30.91 in his outdoor season opener at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif. Sprout last finished a race Jan. 28 for the Cardinal in Arkansas.
