Stanford, CA- Iona college men's outdoor track junior Mohamed Khadraoui broke a five-year old school record in the 10,000 meter event at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational hosted by Stanford University, Sunday afternoon. Khadraoui and classmate Andrew Ledwith represented the Gaels at the event.

Khadraoui finished eighth overall in the second section and was the sixth fastest collegian in the 10k event. His time of 28:34.19 topped former Iona standout Peter Riley's (28:38.67) previous school mark by more than four seconds. Riley set the mark at the 2003 NCAA Championships.

The time is the 10th fastest time in the NCAA this season and automatically qualifies him for the NCAA Championship held at Drake University from June 11-14.

Ledwith was equally impressive in the event shattering his previous personal best time with a 28:57.18. He was 14th overall in the second section of the 10k race at Stanford. While just missing the NCAA automatic qualification, he has provisionally qualified as his time stands as the 22nd fastest in the NCAA.
